Spring Wire

We are a leading name globally in the manufacture of high quality stainless steel spring wire sold under the Fox brand name.  The inherent corrosion resistance of stainless steel makes our wires particularly suitable for operating in corrosive conditions, at high temperatures and in circumstances where maintenance and replacement are impractical.  Protective coatings which would deteriorate with service life are therefore unnecessary.

The spring properties of austenitic stainless steel wire as exemplified by the Fox brand product are obtained by cold drawing which produces a tough fibrous structure with a high tensile strength.  This tensile strength is maintained at operating temperatures of up to 250ºC, and stainless steel springs can be used at reduced stress levels up to 450ºC at which elastic properties are good.

The tensile strength of austenitic stainless steels can be increased by low temperature tempering treatment after spring coiling.  Stress relaxation properties are greatly superior to those of carbon steels.  Spring wire can also be supplied in martensitic and precipitation hardening grades where high strengths can be achieved by heat treatment.

A range of high alloyed and Duplex stainless steels is also available for use in highly corrosive environments.
