Free Machining Wire

Our wide range of free machining steel production capabilities cover the production of coil for ‘Escomatic’ machines and bar material for C.N.C. machines. Tight process control on diameter ensures that extremely tight tolerances can be achieved which is verified in our laboratory with a laser measurement system to guarantee that diameter tolerances are met.

The sourcing of our high quality free machining steel is dependent on the careful selection of our raw material suppliers. We are able to source material from major recognised steel manufacturers world wide.

Careful manufacturing selection of dies and lubricants during the drawing process can guarantee a bright surface finish which combined with the tight diameter tolerance allows the ‘as supplied’ surface to be utilised as the final component surface.

Austenitic grades of stainless steels with controlled sulphur levels are available to give enhanced machining over and above regular austenitic steel without detracting from the resistance to corrosion. Traditional re sulphurised free machining grades are available as a standard.

In addition to stainless steel, a range of leaded carbon and alloy free machining steels are manufactured.
